Everyone, I need your help.
I am trying to convince Mandy to get rid of our home phone and just use cell phones. This will save us $30 - $35 per month. Will you please cast your vote as to what we should do with this situation. I will close the poll at the end of the month.

Sorry Mandy, cell phones are the wave of the future...we have no house phone and function just fine. So, my vote goes to get rid of the house phone. Mandy, it will free up more money for you to go shopping with :)
I vote to keep the home phone! I've heard so many stories where emergency help was delayed because the person used a cell phone to call for help. Landline phones and cell phones are routed differently...so I vote to keep the landline!
Love ya guys...
Okay, we only have cell phones and I am trying to convince Shane that we need a landline phone too. When you have kids, they need a phone! Sometimes I would be willing to leave Harrison at home alone because I think he could handle it, if I knew that he had a way to contact me if necessary. (Of course Shane tells that we could get a "special" cell phone just for kids that can only call three or four phone numbers...)
Okay, I've gone through this debate myself. There are only 2 reasons to have the home phone. 1, if you are using Dish network they will ding you $5 a month if you don't have it hooked up to a landline and 2, if you have DSL you need at least a basic phone line. Those are the 2 reasons that we keep ours.
I am going to cast a vote! These are my reasons for having a phone line. I never have my cell phone charged. We have to have a fax machine for goblitiy!!(did you forget about that Wes). I hate needing to get a hold of someone and there number is not in the phone book. When you have a babysitter you need to have a phone incase they need to get a hold of you. plus I hate, hate, hate texting. So a landline fixes that problem. Finally I can never find my cell phone when it is cahrged and ringing. There for I guess you could called me old school but I vote for landline.
cell phones
I do think that's a good idea...however...you usually take your cell phones with you where ever you go. What if you had a sitter watching those beautiful little monkeys of yours and there was an emergency... We have the most basic phone service there is...but it makes me feel a tiny bit safer when I know there is a phone there and I can check up on things.
Apparently, COBY forgot about those "emergency" reasons...so we have 2 thumbs up about the land line
Kory and I have only ever had cell phones and have never run into any troubles with it. Sorry Mandy!
Since I am usually the babysitter watching your monkeys and never go anywhere without my cell phone I would still be able to get a hold of you. I only have the cell phone and love that I don't have to worry about those annoying telemarketers. That's what works for me. Good luck deciding though.
Sam and I have only had cell phones for about 7 years now. We have survived just fine without landlines for that entire time. When we get a sitter, we leave one of our cell phones home for her to use. Personally, we have saved money by just keeping cell phones. We carry them wherever we go, we have charges for our cars in case they get depleted. Sam has a regular basic phone and I have a Blackberry that I can use to access the internet while I am outside and watching the kids play :).
Having said that, for our business we do have a landline, a fax machine line, and cell phones.
I vote to keep the landline. I like to be able to reach my kids when I'm out, and Ryan and I aren't always together, so I can't leave them one of mine like Isela said. And, some people (cute Isela) don't give out their cell phone numbers, so if they aren't in the book, you can't find them. And, did I miss book club?
I think a land line is a must when you have little ones running around. They have easier access to it if they need to call 911 and also 911 can find you quicker if needed. That being said, you could always switch to Vonage and still save some $$. We use them for our home phone and only pay $19/month, which also includes long distance.
U know Lance and I are cell phones only peeps,
BUT ...
Andre is getting older and when his friends start calling to see if he can play, but U are on the job and sure Andre can play cause he's at home but you're not. Well you get my picture.
Your kid is getting old enough that I would stay stop being stingy and keep the land line... or get Andre a cell phone (hehe)
We've been just cell phones for almost a year now and love it. We couldn't handle all the telemarketers. It was way out of control. I haven't had to deal with babysitters yet, but I can see wanting to have a phone there for that reason. T-mobil will give you a landline for $10 a month. I love having a cell phone, but I'm with you Mandy, I hate texting too!
I vote for NO home phone. Waste of money. We never got one after we moved here! Good Luck!
